Kinsmen Lutheran Church invites local high school students and their parents to a free, online workshop, “How to Navigate Your College Search During a Pandemic.” The workshop will take place Wednesday, October 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Presented by Virginia L. Blackwell and her associate, Bethany Scott, the workshop will cover updates about ACT and SAT testing, how to continue the college search through virtual opportunities, and how to build on experiences like volunteer opportunities, extracurricular activities, leadership and other interests. The workshop is open to the community and will take place on Zoom. Registration is required at http://bit.ly/collegesearch20. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link. Virginia L. Blackwell is an independent educational consultant with more than 30 years of experience in the field of college admissions. She received her Master’s in Education from Harvard University and spent 13 years in the college admissions field at the university level. Using her experience, she guides students in selecting the best school for them based on their academic credentials, personality, outside interests, and long-term career goals. Bethany Scott served for several years in the University of Texas Admissions Office, working with high school students and counselors, facilitating the application process, and evaluating applications from prospective students.
